2023 SFB Best Student Chapter Award

Announcing SFB's Inaugural Best Student Chapter Award!

This award submission is due February 24th at 11:59 PM.

The winning Chapter is strongly encouraged and asked to present a 10-minute presentation at this year's National Student Chapter Meeting during the Student and PostDoc Forum on Friday, April 21st at the upcoming SFB 2023 Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. Should someone from the winning chapter not be able to attend alternatives may be arranged, such as a video presentation.

Questions may be directed to Nick Fischer (fisc0456@umn.edu). The winning Chapter will be announced in early March.

How to Apply:
○ Submission of a one to two page (8.5 by 11 inches) PDF highlighting the
activities of the group, including, but not limited to:
■ Student Chapter activities from the following 12 month period.
■ Biomaterials Day programming organized by the Student Chapter.
■ Student Chapter outreach activities.
■ Excellence exhibited in biomaterials by its student members.
■ Student Chapter growth. This could, for example, emphasize how a

“in action.” For example, this could include student membership yearly
growth, attendance at activities hosted by the Student Chapter, etc.
■ Creativity in presentation is encouraged.
○ One image (.jpeg, .png, .gif, or PDF format) showing the Student Chapter
members. This image can be the Student Chapter hosting an event, etc.
■ This image is not used for judging purposes and may be a duplicate of an
image from the one page summary.

Please name files to correspond to your Chapter. For example "VanderbiltSummaryPDF" and "VanderbiltPictureJPEG."

One award will be granted each year.

Rules:
This award is a $500 grant to support programming of the Student Chapter. This grant will be
disbursed after the SFB Annual Meeting and must be used for programming that
is open to all members of the winning Student Chapter. It is expected that the
Student Chapter’s faculty advisor is consulted in spending the grant.
○ A representative of the winning Student Chapter will be asked to present a 10
minute presentation at the National Student Chapter Meeting at the upcoming
SFB Annual Meeting. This presentation will serve to both showcase the winning
Student Chapter and provide other Student Chapters ideas for future
programming! This presentation does not need to be presented by the submitting author. Rather, some representative from the Student Chapter may alternatively give the presentation at SFB 2023 in San Diego. A video presentation can also be arranged.
○ The winning Chapter will be spotlighted on SFB social media platforms.
○ The winning Chapter will have an Award announcement in SFB Biomaterials Forum
