Principal Investigator | Manager of Biomaterials

Lauren Costella is a Research Scientist in the Biotech Group at Luna Labs and Manager of the Biomaterials and Nano-pharmaceuticals Team. In this role, she directs the development of new technologies through the implementation of non-dilutive funding to de-risk early-stage research and prove the feasibility of novel product concepts. This work is targeted toward technology transition through preclinical studies to support acquisition or licensing for clinical translation.
Ms. Costella received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, both from the University of Virginia. In her experience at Luna Labs over the last 14 years, she has managed more than $8M in funding and has led multiple projects focused on biomaterials development,  traumatic wound care, and diagnostic design.
