Dr. Gabriella Lindberg

University of Oregon

Gabriella Lindberg completed her master’s degree in biotechnology and tissue engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. Passionate about developing new generation biomaterials, she worked at a spin-off medical device company before she moved to New Zealand to pursue a PhD in biomedical engineering at the University of Otago. She later completed a two years as a Post-Doc and two years as a Research Fellow before starting her current position as an Assistant Professor at the University of Oregon. Working at the interface of biology, chemistry, and technology, the Lindberg lab is in pursuit of a blueprint to bridge the gap between engineered and native musculoskeletal tissues. A major focus includes the design of clinically relevant in vitro models and assembloids that account for individual patient needs. She holds a key interest in exploring cellular therapies and rehabilitation strategies to promote tissue repair following knee injuries. Her published papers have been cited more than 1100 times and her research has been successfully commercialized. Her work has furthermore won her several international awards, including the International Society of Biofabrication Early Career Investigator award, the Consortium for Medical Device Technologies Translation award, and the Medical Technologies Centre of Research Excellence award.
